Spay and Neuter surgeries
Data shows that spayed and neutered pets live longer, healthier lives, and we encourage you to discuss this routine procedure with your veterinarian. Considering your pet’s size, breed, personality, and lifestyle, your vet will work with you to determine the best time to spay or neuter your pet in order to maximize his or her lifelong health. A spay surgery involves the removal of the uterus and ovaries through an incision on the lower abdomen. A neuter surgery involves removal of the testicles through a small incision either on or just above the scrotum. We understand that any surgery can seem daunting, but at Commonwealth Veterinary Hospital, we take pride in providing our patients thorough, skilled, and attentive care before, during, and after their surgical procedure. Our highly experienced veterinarians and technicians take every precaution to maximize safetly and reduce risk. This begins with preoperative bloodwork and a complete preoperative exam to gain clearance for anesthesia and continues with a surgical technician specifically designated to monitor your pet’s vitals all the way through surgery and recovery. After surgery, warm blankets, and plenty of love and snuggles make your pet’s recovery as comfortable as possible.

Surgeries to remove undescended testicles in males and spaying of large breed dogs.

A preventive surgery to reduce the risk of gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV or bloat) in at-risk breeds.
