Dr. Alexandra Wolf
Veterinarian
After growing up in sunny Santa Monica, Dr. Wolf decided she had had enough of Califronia’s year-round pleasant weather and moved to the East Coast, where she attended Haverford College in Pennsylvania. After graduating as an English major in 1998, Dr. Wolf moved to New York City to work for a non-profit legal services organization as a grant writer and fundraiser. Luckily for the staff at Commonwealth Vet, neither grant writing nor fundraising turned out to be Dr. Wolf’s dream job, and her work volunteering at the Humane Society down the road during her lunch breaks soon became the most rewarding part of her day. Realizing this, she quit her day job and moved on to become a cage cleaner in the Humane Society’s veterinary clinic in what turned out to be a successful attempt to confirm her lifelong (if intermittent) suspicion that a career in veterinary medicine was, in fact, her calling.
After three additional years of pre-veterinary course work and employment as a veterinary technician, Dr. Wolf went on to attend Veterinary School at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in Rhode Island. Since 2008, Dr. Wolf has worked as a general practitioner in the Boston Metro West area. She is a member of both the AVMA and the MVMA.
Dr. Wolf’s professional interests include urgent care, internal medicine, and ophthalmology. She lives in Newton with her husband, daughter, and rescue mutt, and spends whatever free time she has left reading, running, and volunteering with various social activist causes.
